TV can be called in both command-line and graphical environments. For the
former, start-up is controlled by parameters and options. In a graphical
environment (WorkBench on Amiga and Windows on, well, Windows) things will
differ. On the Amiga, several tooltypes can be preset in the icon. Under
Windows, the explorer context-menu can be used.
Once started, TV can work in two modes: interactive and batch. In
interactive mode, it opens a window that allows user-interaction. In
batch mode, TV performs automatic editing, obeying programs made earlier.
These programs have access to an unlimited number of variables (or:
registers).
Before starting, it will be rewarding if you spend a few minutes to make
yourself familiar with the philosophy of TV, as outlined in the sections
